Have you ever stopped to think about what your company would do if it suddenly gained thousands of overtime hours in a year?

Recently, an insight from Professor Matthew Groh of the Kellogg Schoolmade me reflect deeply on the direction business is taking. He shared a striking statistic: a programming task that used to take 50 days to complete can now be solved in just 5 hours with the help of Artificial Intelligence.

For market giants like Amazon, this type of optimization translates into direct savings of around US$250 million per year.

It's a monumental number, for sure. But the real provocation here isn't the money saved. It's what comes next.

What should we do with the time we've gained?

Technical efficiency is only the first step. What really matters for the future of business is what we do with the time we have left over.

When technology takes over the "mechanical arm" and repetitive tasks of operation, it is not replacing the human being; it is giving us back something precious: the freedom to create. It opens up space for us to focus on what no machine, however advanced, is capable of replicating:

  • Organizational culture: strengthening values, team alignment, and the work environment.
  • Business strategy: thinking long-term, anticipating trends, and designing the company's future.

The human factor is the ultimate destiny

Technological innovation should not be seen as an end in itself, but as a means to achieve greater potential.

Innovation only makes sense when it frees talent to truly be talent.

If AI and new tools are clearing the operational terrain, it is up to us, leaders and professionals, to occupy this new space with creativity, empathy, and strategic vision. After all, technology accelerates the process, but it is people who define the direction.

And in your reality? How has your company been using the time saved by new technological tools? Let's talk!
