The arrival of a new film production based on a classic space franchise reignites debates about the incorporation of intelligent mechanisms.

The return of big-budget science fiction films sparks analysis of technological advancements in contemporary society. The arrival of a new film derived from the universe of George Lucas serves as a starting point for information technology specialists to draw parallels between on-screen inventions and current systems. Several computational tools that once inhabited the popular imagination now form the silent basis of the corporate market, encompassing cloud data processing and advanced decision-making mechanisms.

According to Luiz Eduardo Severino, an executive at Skyone, the old projections of autonomous and communicative robots have found practical correspondence in current virtual agents and business algorithms. These tools are responsible for processing complex workflows and generating strategic diagnoses for companies in different sectors.

“Characters like C-3PO and R2-D2 helped popularize the idea of machines capable of interacting, interpreting contexts, and supporting people in different situations. Today, this vision appears in artificial intelligence agents, which automate processes, analyze large volumes of data, and support decisions within organizations,” says Severino.

The concepts of instant interconnection and rapid travel, conceived in the 1970s in Star Wars, share structural similarities with distributed digital infrastructure services. While film narratives used space shortcuts to connect different points in the universe, today's business environment relies on scalable networks of remote servers to unify branches, management software, and databases in real time.

“If in Star Wars hyperspace connects galaxies, in the real world the cloud plays a similar role by integrating systems, data, and operations in a scalable way. It is this infrastructure that allows companies to advance in the use of artificial intelligence with greater speed, security, and efficiency,” he states.

"The saga was right in imagining a connected world supported by intelligent systems. Today, we see concrete applications of this vision in automated customer service, data analysis, systems integration, cloud operations, and AI agents focused on corporate tasks.".

However, professional analysis highlights that the current technical stage differs from the emotional and autonomous behavior exhibited by movie machines. Contemporary platforms are built on analyses of mathematical probabilities and complex statistical patterns, lacking self-awareness or feelings. The focus of innovation is on increasing human productivity and refining internal management processes, not on replacing the workforce with artificial entities.

“Companies that understand AI as an amplifier of human intelligence gain efficiency, scale, and competitiveness. The difference lies not only in accessing the technology, but in knowing how to apply it with governance, security, and purpose,” he concludes.

The Mandalorian and Grogu follows Din Djarin and Grogu on a new mission amidst the remnants of the Galactic Empire and the advancing New Republic.
