With the end of 2021 approaching, experts and market leaders are beginning to make predictions about the main technological trends that companies will adopt in the following year. It's no surprise that the pandemic has significantly accelerated the digitalization process of Brazilian companies. However, with the consequent change in consumer behavior, many innovations are still to come in 2022. To give you an idea, according to a recent IDC survey, investment in Digital Transformation will continue to grow at an annual rate of 15.5% until 2023. With this, even in 2022, 70% of companies will have accelerated the use of digital technologies. Given this promising scenario, what innovations can organizations expect for the coming year?

First, before making any projections about the future, it is essential to analyze the past. In recent years, cloud computing has brought a series of new technologies that have driven disruption in various sectors of the economy. This migration speed is expected to increase in 2022. Companies have realized that migrating to the cloud can be done quickly and easily with the support of a specialized team. However, even in the cloud, it is necessary to prioritize data protection , since the first monitoring cycle of the LGPD (General Data Protection Law) will begin in January 2022.

Cybersecurity mesh and data fabric

The concept of cybersecurity mesh will gain momentum next year, enhancing digital security through Artificial Intelligence. With recent cyberattacks on the cloud of organizations worldwide, companies have realized that it's not just about restoring the database, but about ensuring that there will be no data leaks.

Furthermore, the market will strongly embrace the concept of data fabric, which brings with it the ability to make data available anywhere. This will certainly reduce the cost of consuming large volumes of data.

All these concepts bring to the forefront the discussion about data decentralization, security, and also how to control this large volume of information while reducing costs.

Hyperautomation and 5G

We expect companies to invest even more in hyperautomation in 2022. By automating processes, it's possible to ensure greater efficiency and competitiveness, enabling companies to be super agile, connecting their systems more easily, and thus contributing to more assertive operational decisions.

The arrival of 5G in Brazil will also be in the spotlight next year. According to Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency), the fifth generation of mobile telephony should arrive in the country soon, initially operating in all state capitals and the Federal District, by July 2022.

In this way, 5G will bring interactions that are 20 times faster. In addition to positively impacting business operations in the country, the new technology will be important for the environment, as it will provide battery savings through its performance, and allow Internet of Things (IoT) devices to connect to the network without consuming much energy.

It is worth noting that throughout 2021, we observed the emergence of ESG committees concerned with the future of the country. This topic will also remain on the agenda in 2022, since companies linked to sustainability issues will certainly face a great challenge, and technology will be a great ally in this regard.

Metaverse

When we talk about technology and the future, we can't fail to mention the "Metaverse," conceived by Facebook, whose objective is to bring the persistent world, in which business is conducted and social life is lived, to the virtual world. In other words, the experience brought by the Metaverse should completely transform consumption, and therefore, companies will need to rethink their entire IT environment, since this will be consumed in another dimension. Various sectors will be impacted. In retail, for example, it's possible to imagine the consumer in the virtual environment trying on clothes and testing how they would look on their body.

It is evident that the digital world is the new battleground for organizations that increasingly need to establish a presence in this universe. It is necessary to view the digital universe as a metaverse, thinking of it as a place where companies compete for customer attention. Therefore, what sustains innovation is technology, efficiency, and the way in which companies will generate a competitive advantage in the market.
