Entrepreneur Ricardo Brandão built a pioneering cloud company in Brazil and seeks to accelerate AI in companies.

Ricardo Brandão founded Skyone in 2013, when cloud computing was still relatively unknown in Brazil. Today, the company is internationalizing its operations and aims to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence in companies.

Ricardo Brandão, founder of Skyone, built a pioneering business in the Brazilian market by launching cloud computing solutions in 2013, a technology still poorly understood in the country. Raised in an entrepreneurial family, Brandão began working in the software sector early, moving from programming to sales, where he learned how to connect the right product with the right customer.

Recognizing that many companies maintained systems on their own servers and were unaware of the benefits of the cloud, Brandão and his partner Rennan Sanchez decided to create Skyone after a failed attempt to develop the area internally. After seven months, they acquired their first client and, around 2015, achieved significant monthly recurring revenue, consolidating their business model based on channels and partners, which combines low acquisition costs with wide reach.

The pandemic accelerated the demand for cloud migration, boosting the growth of Skyone, which raised funds to expand internationally. Currently present in 35 countries, almost 20% of the company's revenue comes from abroad. Brandão points out that, despite the technology being more widely known, there is still a need to educate the market.

The executive sees a parallel in the current moment, with artificial intelligence reaching companies, but many systems still running internally. To take advantage of AI, it is necessary to organize and connect data and systems, a process in which Skyone has been working for over a decade.

To accelerate this transformation, the company acquired ADD IT, a specialist in private clouds, expanding its customer base to improve efficiency and increase margins through cross-selling. This strategy reinforces Skyone's commitment to anticipating technological demands and preparing the Brazilian and international markets for the next stages of digital transformation.

The full account of Ricardo Brandão's journey and vision is available on the podcast "From Zero to Top," which delves into the details of Skyone's success and challenges.
