About Skyone
Research by Skyone and The News points to the advancement of autonomous creation with AI and gaps in data governance
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create internal automations and applications is advancing outside of formal technology structures. Among professionals who have already developed solutions on their own with a coding vibe, 85.2% did so without formal IT involvement, according to research by Skyone in partnership with the news.
The survey shows that 51.1% of the creations were developed individually, without IT participation, while 34.1% came from teams also without formal involvement from the area. Only 14.8% had occasional support from technology professionals.
The survey was conducted between September 10 and 25, 2026, with subscribers to the newspaper. The results, therefore, represent the survey participants and not all Brazilian companies.
Autonomy isn't just about how solutions are developed. Half of the participants say they've already created an automation, application, dashboard, or integration without going through a formal IT project.
Among the solutions developed are process automation, cited by 52% of respondents who have already created something, and internal applications or systems, with 47.6%. AI agents or assistants appear in 33% of responses, followed by system integrations, with 18.7%, and chatbots or automated customer service, with 14.4%.
The movement is also recent. Of the participants, 43% say they created some kind of solution in the six months prior to the survey.
The expansion of AI creation outside of IT occurs in an environment where some professionals report a lack of rules for the use of corporate information in AI tools.
According to the study, 42.9% say their companies lack guidelines on what corporate data can be used in AI. Another 26.3% say they work in organizations with clear and formalized rules, while 18.6% report the existence of poorly communicated norms.
Lack of technical knowledge also appears as the main barrier for those considering creating a solution on their own, mentioned by 52.6% of this group. Concern about security or governance appears in 17.8% of responses, while 13.6% cite the lack of an adequate and secure tool.
The results present technology departments with the challenge of keeping up with solutions that may begin as individual initiatives and later become integrated into corporate processes. The survey itself recommends mapping what is already being developed, establishing data and security boundaries, and bringing business areas closer to IT before these experiments are scaled up.
