Those who access GameVicio and Hardware.com.br daily probably don't think much about the infrastructure needed to keep these sites running. The page opens, the news appears, and navigation proceeds normally. Behind this, however, there is a structure that needs to handle thousands of hits daily and, most importantly, be prepared for moments when this volume increases suddenly. That's precisely where we started to encounter a problem.

Ramar Media, a group that includes GameVicio and Hardware.com.br, brings together projects that have been present on the Brazilian internet for decades. Over time, and with the growth of our audience, our infrastructure began to experience some bottlenecks, especially during traffic peaks. At certain times, this ceased to be an issue perceived only internally. Part of the community itself began to notice the effects. It was a clear sign that we needed to prepare the structure for a new phase.

Interestingly, the partnership that would eventually lead our infrastructure to the cloud didn't begin with Ramar looking for a company specializing in servers. It was quite the opposite.

Skyone initially contacted us seeking a media kit, something common in the commercial operation of our websites. During the initial conversations, however, a coincidence that was hard to ignore emerged: the company worked precisely with cloud infrastructure .

And we had an infrastructure problem to solve. On Skyone, there was yet another connection to the history of our websites. Felipe Wasserman, marketing director at Skyone, already knew Hardware.com.br even before the first contact between the companies.

The conversation, which had started with a different purpose, quickly took a new turn.

Skyone founded working with cloud computing at a time when contracting this type of service was still much less straightforward in Brazil. Many solutions depended on foreign providers, international payments, and processes that hindered the adoption of cloud computing by Brazilian companies.
