Royal Hotels Network is a medium-to-large-sized organization in the hospitality sector, founded in the 1960s. The company operates a business model focused on corporate and leisure tourism, currently managing 5 strategic hotel units: 4 in Belo Horizonte (MG) and 1 in the Jardins region of São Paulo (SP). The operation requires the uninterrupted processing (24/7) of integrated Property Management Systems( PMS), housekeeping, billing, and booking channels.

Real problem and technical bottlenecks

Prior to the technological intervention, the Royal Hotels Network faced serious limitations in its on-premise IT architecture :

  • Data silos and decentralization: each of the 5 units operated in isolation, generating fragmentation of financial, accounting, and occupancy information. Cross-referencing data for executive decision-making required complex manual consolidation.
  • Availability risks (Downtime): the local infrastructure suffered from hardware, risks of power fluctuations, and local internet link failures, threatening the continuity of check-in, check-out , and payment processing operations.
  • Inability to scale: seasonal demand growth and the prospect of adding new ventures or software tools were limited by the high capex (Capital Expenditure) cost for acquiring new physical servers and licenses.
  • Security vulnerabilities: Maintaining decentralized routines for backups, patch updates, and security compliance on local servers increased the attack surface for cyber incidents.

Solution architecture and technology stack

The solution implemented was Skyone Autosky. The designed architecture migrated legacy, monolithic hotel management and ERP applications to an optimized public cloud environment.

  • AI-ready application and cloud layer: using Skyone Autosky to virtualize and natively deploy client-server systems through common web browsers (HTTPS port 443), eliminating the need for replication or changes to the original application source code (Zero-Change Migration).
  • Auto-scaling mechanism: configuration of algorithms that monitor CPU consumption, memory, and user load minute by minute. The system automatically provisions additional ephemeral instances during peak access times on the hotel network and terminates them during periods of low demand, controlling cloud operational costs.
  • Network isolation and security: each application and database was segregated within theVirtual Private, implementing a Zero Trust where terminal access is only granted after encrypted pre-authentication via SSL.

Technical challenges and risk mitigation

The main technical challenge lay in the critical nature of the hotel sector: the migration could not disrupt the hotels' reception and night audit systems, at the risk of severe financial and reputational impact.

  • Mitigation: A migration workflow based on Server Templates in an isolated environment was adopted. This allowed for the validation of all network variables, local printer mapping, and specific drivers before the go-live .

Implementation and rollout

The transition and implementation strategy was executed in partnership with Faitec, divided into three main phases:

  1. Image mapping and engineering: capturing the original business logic and creating on-demand infrastructure templates for the ERPs used.
  2. Data synchronization: secure upload of historical databases to the cloud layer.
  3. Early morning switchover (Cutover): the go-live occurred during a period of lower operational traffic (early morning). By 2 AM, the entire infrastructure and all 5 units were already operating integrated into the public cloud through the centralized Skyone Autosky portal.

Measurable results

  • Downtime during the migration window: 0% (Zero Downtime). The process was completed without interruption to guest services at the reception desks.
  • Data centralization: 100% integration. Complete elimination of data silos, allowing for the cross-referencing of management reports and financial data between hotels and departments in real time.
  • Operational availability: guaranteed operational resilience 24/7 supported by native cloud redundancy and automated backups managed by Skyone.
  • Financial efficiency: replacing unpredictable local physical infrastructure costs with a predictable model priced in local currency, reducing capital expenditure needs and optimizing IT operational costs.

Lessons learned

  • Migrating complex, integrated legacy systems from multiple sites does not require costly code rewriting if a robust, intelligent cloud infrastructure-driven virtualization layer is applied.
  • The cutover windowtheearly morning hours minimizes operational risks in continuous service businesses.

FAQ

1. How to mitigate the risk of downtime when migrating hospitality ERPs to the cloud?

Mitigating downtime requires a no-code migration strategy, using pre-configured template servers in an isolated environment. The transition process (cutover) should be planned for off-peak hours—such as the early morning hours—allowing databases to be synchronized and validated without interrupting 24/7 reception services.

2. What are the advantages of the Skyone Autosky architecture model for hotel chains or multi-client businesses?

Skyone Autosky offers centralization of legacy systems via a web browser without the need for complex VPN tunnels. It applies auto-scaling engines that adjust computing resources minute by minute according to fluctuations in active users, in addition to isolating the applications of each client or unit in segregated virtual networks with strict policies based on Zero Trust and MFA security.
