The global asset manager led the Series C funding round for the software, cloud, data, and artificial intelligence company.
Advent, one of the world's largest private equity , has just announced an investment in Skyone , a Brazilian company specializing in cloud computing, data, and artificial intelligence solutions. The investment amount was not disclosed. The funds come from the LAPEF VII fund, dedicated to investments in Latin America and with US$2 billion under management.
With this investment, Advent led the Series C funding round for Skyone. The venture has grown by an average of 40% per year and has increased its revenue tenfold since 2018.
Founded in 2013 by Ricardo Brandão, Rennan Sanchez, Rodrigo Burjato, and Caio Klein, the company developed an integrated platform to accelerate the digital transformation of businesses.
The company operates in two main areas. Skyone Autosky is a multi-cloud used to move essential applications to the cloud, focusing on security, performance, and cost control. Skyone Studio, on the other hand, is a platform that brings together tools for working with data and artificial intelligence — from integrating and organizing information to developing and operating AI agents focused on automation.
Advent's investment should support Skyone's growth strategy on three fronts: expanding its sales area, distribution channels, and potential acquisitions; advancing innovation and development, with improvements to Autosky and, especially, Studio, reinforcing AI functionalities; and accelerating its international presence, opening up opportunities to enter new markets.
Advent had already been eyeing Skyone since 2021. "The company has arrived at a scale and timing that is quite appropriate for the investment to continue supporting the company's growth in the coming years," says Brenno Raiko, partner at Advent International responsible for technology investments in Latin America.
With its entry into cap table , Advent becomes a significant shareholder alongside the founding partners, as well as the Henkan and Bewater funds, which invested in the company in previous funding rounds.
“Our entry will support what they are already doing. There are levers to accelerate organic growth and acquisitions — part of the resources will go to M&A — and also for international leverage,” says Raiko. Today, Skyone is in 35 countries and Advent will use its structure outside the country, with offices around the world, to support the investment in this agenda.
International presence
With annual revenue close to R$ 400 million and an international presence , the company has expanded its operations beyond small and medium-sized businesses, now serving clients with billions in revenue, such as Cobasi, Mambo, Malwee, and Fortbras Autopeças.
“We believe that the fuel of artificial intelligence is data, and if it is not organized and connected, you cannot benefit from the full potential that this technology brings,” says Ricardo Brandão, who, in addition to being one of the founders, is the CEO of the company.
Currently, Skyone reaches more than 25,000 end users. And, according to the executive, the idea is to strengthen its existing presence in these countries. “We have a presence on every continent, but 70% of our revenue comes from Brazil. We will be very focused on Latin America and North America for the next eight months. After that, we will open up to new markets.”
Over the past 25 years, funds managed by Advent have invested more than US$7 billion in 70 companies in Latin America. In the region, it has already invested in Totvs and currently holds a stake in Siesa (Colombia). Globally, Advent's portfolio includes companies such as Prometheus, Syspro, and Volue.
